On the other hand, I can so, so easily see calendars, task lists, and (gasp!) the address book being on-demand plug-ins, hopefully with an architecture in place to allow them to work together, as in the start page that outlook has. I understand that TB actually IS just an e-mail client. If it forever remains 'just an e-mail client'. They may use TB when they want 'just an e-mail client' (I did, when I used Outlook) but it'll never actually replace Outlook. The reason I mention this is because I feel that a terrible lot of people, especially in the business world, rely on this setup just to get stuff done. I certainly did a lot better remembering things when I was using Outlook. This combination can be very useful, especially if you are forgetful and tend to schedule your life. (1+2=3) The start page that integrated these! I know from working in business that People want "friendly and courteous and respect" - not "childs play" when it comes to their "Product"!!!īUT: when I did, I really did appreciate:

People really DO need to get more "positive" in here, or End-Users are going to be running away by the dozens. They really do need to get a life or a Nintendo or something better (more productive in a "good" way) that would "help others", rather than be so Destructive!!! That doesn't serve anyone any good!!! And, it certainly isn't needed, not even for laughs. If you think that just seeing in most forums the $ sign is bad - well, in "here" you should take a look in the "Mozillazine After Dark" Forum - and the all too stupid "Anti-Microsoft" Images Thread they got going in there!!! They just have nothing better to do with their time, I would imagine.

Nothing against you, but I get tired of the "$" and the veiled microsoft bashing (in general around the net).īoy, do I "totally" agree with you on the Microsoft $ thing!!! They go absolutely Crazy in here with their bad mouthing them, just because they have so much of the market and cause Windows Critical Update patches and have products that "some" people get viruses from IF they don't keep their computer Firewalled and Anti-Virused and Updated.

Very mature code from the MozillaMail email client that isīundled in Mozilla 1.5. Its still early beta in Thunderbird terms, but its based on the You can feel safe using Thunderbird as default email client. Firebird, Thunderbird, and the freshly started standalone Composer project. Overall, I'm highly encouraged by _all_ of the upcoming Mozilla-based products. The junk mail controls are ok for such an early release, and I'm sure they will only get better. The "wide view" layout is particularly attractive, and makes reading email very easy.

Because it's still such an early beta I'm only going to be using it to download mail from an account that I don't use very often, but I like many of the features that it has already implemented. They blocked every email client but Outlook/OutlookX. I just signed onto a new ISP last week that allows me to use Thunderbird, and Im not looking back, M$N was my ISP and And the thing is, that Thunderbird isn't crowded, it's very open, very customizable in it's features, and by golly it's frickin' skinnable which makes all the graphic designers happy. If not beating it, perhaps an affiliation? Because when I use Outlook, I look at it and say "Geez, isn't this crowded." Because it is. I think if Mozilla runs their marketting structure and plays the advertisement right, they could outmatch M$'s Outlook.
